Sudbury Arts Festival Events
2014
Sudbury Arts Event 2014 a roaring success
One of the first jobs for the new Vicar of St Andrew’s Church, the Reverend Greville Thomas, was to preside over Sudbury Arts Events’ latest collaboration with the internationally acclaimed Diva Opera who performed “A Merry Little Christmas”.
On Friday 5th December for the second year running, this amazing opera company, lead by Bryan Evans MBE, entertained an audience; which included Barry Gardner MP, and our local councillors.
The performance of “A Merry Little Christmas” with mulled wine and mince pies in the interval, was a specially devised, fabulously entertaining show featuring well known popular arias, songs and Christmas carols.
Science workshp day
STRA'S Sudbury Arts Festival 2014 funded a special Science Workshop Day for Sudbury Primary School organised by Sphere Science, a children's workshop specialist. This was held in conjunction
with the schools science week and supported the aim of the National Curriculum to “develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science.
Famous scientist Sir William Perrin who lived and worked in the Sudbury area developed the process for producing the colour Mauve, this was the initial reason to have a science day connected to
art.
2013
Building on the huge success of Sudbury Town Residents’ Association’s Party in Barham Park in celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee June last year, Councillor Mary Daly had many requests for another event in 2013. A few local businesses and associations met at a local hair salon, Through the Looking Glass, on Tuesday, 5th February, to push forward the Sudbury Arts Festival planned for September. The idea is to showcase local artistic talent.
The Reverend Felicity Scroggie of St Andrews Church has said “We are delighted that the community is coming together to celebrate local talent and we look forward to a fun filled three day event to build on the success of last year’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations”.
