Horsenden Hill Golf Course

News from the Hill

Golfwise Limited have now taken over the lease for the operation of Horsenden Hill council golf course and they appear to be doing a very good job. My non golfers eye can see an immediate improvement in the greens.

The cafe and bar continue to be run by Mr Kamala.(Try his Nepalese food- delicious.)

The course and cafe are open 8am to dusk to all members of the public on a “pay and play” basis or various membership options.

Golfwise have two P.G.A. pros Tyran and Giulio who can provide lessons and also run weekly Junior training for ages 4-7 and 8-15.

The club based at the course will be holding their charity day on Sunday 14th June with chipping and putting competitions, raffles a barbecue and much more in support of the Macmillan Cancer charity.

We are happy to report that the Christmas tree farm idea has been dropped and the golf course will continue under new operators for another five years.

Message from Ealing Council

Outcome of this week's meeting on the future of Horsenden Hill Golf Course

Thank you so much for showing your interest in Horsenden Hill Golf Course and it was great to see so many people attend a public meeting earlier this week.

The fact that there was standing room only in a large school hall shows that there is clearly demand and potential for golf to continue at Horsenden Hill.

I am delighted to share with you that after months of work, we have been able to secure a new commercial partner to maintain and run the golf course on Horsenden Hill in the form of Golfwide Limited.  They will be entering a 25 year lease with review at the 5-year point.  This is a great result as it maintains golf at the site, whilst removing the subsidy that we could no longer afford to maintain as a council.

Golfwise Limited attended the meeting and it was clear that they cannot wait to take on the running of the site and use their experience of running other golf courses in the borough to improve the offer at Horsenden as well as ensure it is well publicised.

The company has a record of successfully working with local authorities across London for more than 20 years and in all cases the aim has been to provide a high quality service for the local community.  Golfwise Ltd is a specialist in the management of golf facilities and its ethos is accessibility and enjoyment.  They have PGA experience and will be working with the Golf Foundation to help introduce young people to the sport and offer opportunities for their development, through group tuition, competitions and access to equipment.

You can find more information about the business here on their current website, although I am aware that they will be setting up new pages for Horsenden in the coming weeks: http://www.pitchnputt.co.uk/

I am grateful to everyone who fed back in the past few weeks, I hope you feel that we did listen to those and worked our level best to get this outcome.  What was made clear at the meeting was that residents wanted this solution and I hope this will be echoed many times over with increased take up of the golf course and its facilities under new ownership as of 1st April.  If you want this commercial venture to thrive then it will be down to yourself and those you know and your neighbours to support the operatives in ensuring it does.

As part of the feedback I received over the past few weeks, I received positive comments about increasing opportunities for other leisure facilities on the hill, such as walking and cycling.  Should future proposals be worked up on these elements then I will be sure to keep you updated and we will look to work with yourselves and others to keep Horsenden one of the best open spaces anywhere in London.

Very many thanks again for your involvement in this campaign and should there be any other issues you wish to raise then please do not hesitate to either contact myself or one of your other local elected representatives:
